Dog Grooming FAQs

All dogs in Petropolis' grooming salon are required to have their Rabies, Distemper (DHPP), Bordetella vaccines. Visit our vaccination policy page to learn more.

Our hours of operation are 7:30am to 6:00pm on weekdays and 8:00am to 5:00pm on weekends. Please contact us at our Chesterfield location or St. Charles location to speak to a staff member about drop-off and pick-up times that work for you.

Grooming rates range from $53-$199 per groom depending on whether you choose the Premium Bath Package or Haircut Package. Spa Packages range from $25-$53 per groom. Add-ons range from $6-$35.

The Premium Bath Package includes full-body shampoo and rinse, face trim, paw trim, basic brushout, nails, perfume and a bandana. The Haircut Package includes everything from the Premium Bath Package, plus a breed-specific haircut. There is an additional cost for heavily matted dogs.

You can add a facial, paw balm, sac expression, teeth brushing, nail clip/grind, extra brushing/de-matting, specialty shampoo or conditioner, and flea treatment to your dog's grooming session.

The Basic Spa Package includes teeth brushing, facial, and paw pad scrub. The Shedless Spa Package includes extra brushing, shedless shampoo, and conditioner. The Mud Bath Spa Package includes a mud bath, rejuvenating facial, and teeth brushing.

It really depends on the situation, but most grooming sessions take 2-3 hours, depending on your dog's size, coat condition, and the services selected. We never rush the process to ensure a stress-free experience.

This varies by breed and coat type. Generally, dogs with continuously growing hair (like Poodles or Shih Tzus) benefit from grooming every 4-6 weeks, while short-haired breeds might need just quarterly visits. We'll help create the ideal schedule for your pet. We also offer discounts when you rebook at checkout!

If a health concern arises during grooming, we will always let you know so you can follow up with your veterinarian. 

Our "Pet Empowerment" approach is perfect for anxious dogs. We can schedule longer appointments, take breaks as needed, and work gradually to build positive associations with grooming.

We believe grooming should be a positive experience for every dog. For grooming, we even offer a grooming acclimation package for puppies and nervous dogs.

Yes, we offer puppy grooming! We take early acclimation very seriously to help puppies learn to enjoy the puppy grooming process. Pet Empowerment is also perfect for turning grooming into a lifelong enjoyable experience for them.

All of our dog groomers and bathers are educated in animal behavior and have years of experience in the industry. Many of our staff members have completed formal training programs and hold certifications from The Academy of Pet Careers, ensuring professional, knowledgeable care for your pet.

Yes, but there may be additional charges for extra brushing and de-matting work. In severe cases, we may recommend a complete shave-down for your dog's comfort and safety. We'll always discuss options with you before proceeding.

Yes! Many clients schedule grooming during their dog's daycare visit or boarding stay for added convenience. Just let us know when booking, and we'll coordinate the services.

We recommend booking as early as possible, especially during peak seasons and holidays when demand is highest. For regular weekends or off-peak times, booking at least 1-2 weeks in advance is advisable.
