Free classes for new puppy owners
Petropolis offers free classes for new puppy owners
ST. LOUIS, MO - February 18th, 2020 - Raising a confident, well-adjusted puppy isn’t all ‘sit,’ ‘stay,’ ‘roll-over.’ The first eight weeks you have your puppy are the critical time for introducing them to new sights, sounds, and environments and building their confidence. To help new puppy owners during this time, Petropolis is happily offering free Puppy Socialization Classes to any puppy between eight and 16 weeks old.
These classes, which are held on Saturdays at 10 a.m. in their Chesterfield location and taught by Petropolis’s training team, are designed to help new puppy owners acclimate their dogs to the world around them. Not only will puppies meet new people and dogs, but they will also be slowly introduced to things that cause some dogs anxiety - like thunder, skateboards, and bicycles – and taught that these things are safe.
When puppies have these experiences early in life and build positive associations with them, they are less likely to suffer from behavioral issues later in life such as anxiety, reactivity, aggression, fear of loud noises, and attention-seeking behaviors like excessive barking or jumping. By socializing puppies while they are still young, owners set themselves up for long, happy lives with their dogs.
