St. Louis Business Owners Open Second Location Amid COVID Pandemic

ST. LOUIS, MO – July 22, 2020 – After six months of construction, Petropolis has opened their second pet care facility in St. Charles in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

While many local businesses closed their doors at the onset of the pandemic, Petropolis opened theirs. By the time it opened for business in June, Petropolis St. Charles had been under construction for six months. Michael Schifano, owner and Vice President of Petropolis, felt the area’s pet owners needed help more than ever.

“There are a lot of workers out there with essential jobs, and a lot of them have pets,” Schifano said. “We want to provide them with lodging and dog daycare when they need it.”

In addition to serving the area’s pet owners, Schifano believes it was important to open the business for the sake of his employees.

We had just hired a lot of our staff for the new location when the news of COVID hit,” he said. “The biggest challenge was handling everything for the new staff and existing team to keep everyone employed.”

Petropolis is now working to support their employees and help pet owners adjust to post-quarantine life through daycare, lodging, grooming, and training.
